Read the following passage carefully and answer the given questions.

             One of the greatest man was Socrates. He was a philosopher, always searching for truth. He often discussed difficult questions with his friends and acquaintance, so that out of the discussions, truth might emerge. He had many disciples or chelas and the greatest of these was Plato. It is from the books of Plato that we know a great deal of his master Socrates. But the Athenian Government did not like the search for truth that was done by Socrates. They held a trial and condemned him to death. They told him that if he promised to give up his discussions with people, they would let him off. But he refused to do so and preferred the cup of poison to giving up his search for truth.
